Description: Perseids Meteor Shower Viewing Party
Location: Burgess Falls State Park
Join SIR Taylor at Window Cliffs State Natural Area for a late-night viewing party of the annual Perseids Meteor Shower! This year, there is an option to take a 0.7-mile hike around our new fire line trail. There are several event options tonight with different registration requirements, so please check them all out before picking just one!
The hike will start at 7:30 PM and last until 8:30 PM, beginning in the Window Cliffs Parking lot. It is a moderate 0.7-mile-long hike with some elevation change. This is optional if you choose to attend. If you do not want to do the hike, it is advised that you arrive at 8:30 PM.
At 8:30 PM, we will have a campfire, where we will cook s'mores and tell some of the stories and legends surrounding the Perseid meteors! Make sure to bring a camp chair and blankets to stay cozy and comfortable while viewing this amazing celestial event. Also, feel free to bring any personal telescopes or binoculars to enhance your viewing experience.
Since this is an after-hours event, the gates to Window Cliffs will be closed. However, park staff will be there to open the gates so participants can enter the parking lot.
Spots are limited, so you must preregister in order to attend this event. Make sure to look at all of the events offered for the Perseids meteor shower!
