Here at Burgess Falls we care for one of the state’s Bird of Prey Animal Ambassadors. Currently we house a beautiful red-tailed hawk named Tesla.
As our Parks Animal Ambassador, Tesla helps our Rangers inform and educate visitors about himself and the habitat he lives in. When Tesla was younger, he was deemed to have neurological damage and could not dive correctly to hunt. After spending some time in a wildlife rehabilitation facility, he was declared un-releasable to the wild and was given a home here at Burgess Falls where he has lived since 2006.
Caring for Bird of Prey Animal Ambassadors requires daily attention and ongoing costs- such as frozen feed mice, vitamins to enrich their diet, specialized equipment for beak and talon care, veterinary care, and aviary upkeep costs. Your donations help alleviate these expenses and directly support the well-being of our beloved Tesla.
