American Woodcocks are bizarre, plump, ground dwelling birds that are camouflaged to hide on the forest floor. In late winter, they waddle out into the open where the males perform a fantastic mating display. Ranger Clare will lead you on an adventure to listen for their distinct calls and see if we can find these elusive birds! You will learn some interesting facts about these strange birds and also get an opportunity to see the sunset over Seven Islands State Birding Park.
Meet at the Bluebird Barn at 5:45 pm. Come prepared to walk 2-3 miles. Bring water, good walking shoes, and binoculars.
