This event is now history, but we have many more wonderful programs in store for you!
Join Interpretive Ranger Amanda for a special night under the stars at a scenic overlook off I-26, just above the mountain peaks of Rocky Fork State Park. This exclusive stargazing event offers some of the clearest night skies in East Tennessee, with minimal light pollution and sweeping views, making it a prime spot to catch the Perseids Meteor Shower at its peak!
Once registered, you’ll receive coordinates to the exact location. Bring a flashlight, camping chair, snacks, water, and bug spray to stay comfortable throughout the evening. Stargazing apps like Stellarium are great tools for identifying constellations, planets, and tracking the meteor shower overhead. Arriving a bit early is recommended, parking in limited - car pooling is recommended.
* Please note that the moon will be 84% full and this may limit optimal viewing during the peak of the meteor shower - This program is weather dependent. If skies are too cloudy or storms are in the forecast, the event will be canceled. *
