East Tennessee is home to seven species of woodpeckers. We will hike the Hickory Ridge Trail where you are most likely to see each of them and learn what to look for when identifying woodpeckers. We will also discuss the special adaptations and behaviors that make them unique. If we're lucky, we will see all seven woodpeckers plus many other birds!
This program is recommended for all ages. Please meet at the Bluebird Barn by 9:00. Be prepared to walk ~1.5 miles on steep terrain. For more details about the route we will take, read the Essential Eligibility Criteria.
The cost of this program is $8.00 per participant. Children under 5 do not have to register with a paying adult.
Please come prepared with good hiking shoes and a water bottle. Pets are not allowed on programs, except service animals. Binoculars are available to borrow during the program.
