4:00 pm: Tunes of the Time: Join seasonal ranger at the Volleyball court for a campfire song display. Learn
more about the recreational activities that kept spirits alive during a time of war.
6:00 pm: Nature Hike and Scavenger Hunt: Meet at the campground Volleyball court for a short hike
around the campground, to identify plants and animals in the park.
Saturday, June 13, 2026
10:00 am: Earthworks Hike: Meet at the basketball goal parking lot for a short hike along the 1861
breastworks. We will look at how they were made and the reason they were placed where they were.
12:00 pm: Big Guns: Meet seasonal ranger at the museum for an informative program on cannons used at
Fort Pillow during the Civil War.
2:00 pm: Creation of Chickasaw Bluffs: Meet seasonal ranger at the museum to learn about how the bluffs
were created and to discuss the terrain of Fort Pillow State Historical Park.
4:00 pm: Informative Hike to Suspension Bridge: Meet seasonal ranger at the museum for a short,
informative hike to the newly installed suspension bridge.
Sunday, June 14, 2026
8:00 am: Hike to the Restored Fortification: Meet the seasonal ranger at the museum for a short,
informative round-trip hike up to the newly restored fortification where most of the battle at Fort Pillow took place.
10:00 am: Butterfly Garden: Meet seasonal ranger at the Butterfly Garden for a discussion about the
Monarch butterfly and the Mississippi Flyway migration route.
12:00 pm: Museum Tour and Video: Meet seasonal ranger at the museum for an informative tour through
the Civil War battle at Fort Pillow, as well as an interesting insight into what a soldier would have carried in this
pack and view the film on Fort Pillow.
2:00 pm: Fort Pillow Lake: Meet seasonal ranger at Fort Pillow Lake to learn about the lake, water trails,
fishing, and boating activities
