Description: Views to views: Section Hike the Cumberland Trail State Scenic Trail

Location: TN Division of Natural Areas

We will meet at Ozone Falls State Natural Area and take a shuttle to Black Mountain (part of the Cumberland Trail State Park) and hike back to Ozone Falls via the Cumberland Trail State Scenic Trail. The hike will be approximately 7 miles one way. This is a great opportunity to see Black Mountain AND Ozone Falls, and to hike along many picturesque creeks while exploring some recent trail improvements along the Cumberland Trail. Participants will be free to hang out around Ozone Falls once the hike is over. We’ll have a fun time exploring the trails, seeing a diversity of plant communities, and talking about State Natural Areas and the Cumberland Trail.

This hike includes several moderate ascents and descents along a rolling trail from Black Mountain and concludes with a steep ascent with precarious footing from the base of Ozone Falls back to the parking area. Because of the distance, this hike should be considered strenuous. Please wear sturdy footwear, bring water and snacks, and be prepared for unpredictable weather conditions.
