This event is now history, but we have many more wonderful programs in store for you!
Step back in time and learn a timeless skill. During the Great Depression, families often relied on simple crafts like embroidery to mend clothing, decorate household items, and create beauty even in difficult times. Join us for a hands-on beginner embroidery class where you’ll learn the very basics of stitching while connecting with a tradition that has been passed down for generations.
Participants will be guided by Evelyn Haskin, who brings more than 30 years of experience in cross stitching and embroidery. Evelyn will teach foundational techniques and simple stitches as you create your own mini hoop embroidered flower to take home and display.
No experience is necessary. This relaxed, beginner-friendly class is perfect for anyone interested in learning a classic craft and enjoying a creative afternoon inspired by history.
All materials are provided. Participants will leave with a finished mini hoop embroidery piece and the skills to continue stitching at home.
While all are welcomed, this class will have sharp needles and is designed for beginners in embroidery. Children can attend but must to be trusted with a sharp needle. Recommended ages 10 years old and up.
