Join park staff for a guided hike along the trails of Seven Islands State Birding Park for our Spring Hike focused on the bird of the year, the Eastern Towhee. Participants will learn about the conservation efforts at the park focused on birds, especially grassland species. Throughout the year, numerous species of sparrows are frequently seen in the park, but did you know that the Eastern Towhee is actually a member of the sparrow family as well? The hike will be a easy-moderate difficulty 2-2.5 mile hike. This is a free hike, but if you would like to donate to the park as part of your registration we would be very appreciative. This hike will leave the Bluebird Barn area at 9:00am. Please plan on arriving at the Bluebird Barn by the main entrance on Kelly Lane by 9:00am and checking in at the Friends of Seven Islands information table by the barn. Please bring bottled water for yourself and comfortable shoes and clothes appropriate for the weather.
