Description: Spring Birding Hike
Location: Savage Gulf State Park
Join Ranger Jamie on a spring birding hike to learn about native migratory birds in the park. This is an approximate 3-mile guided birding hike to Savage Falls via the Savage Day Loop Trail and South Rim Trail. We will discuss birds we see, common Spring migratory birds, and common year-round resident birds of the park. Binoculars are highly recommended, but not required. The park will NOT be providing binoculars and participants must bring their own if they so choose.
New and experienced birders alike enjoy using the Merlin app for birding. The ranger will be using this tool during the program, and encourage participants to use it, too. Learn more about the app here (https://merlin.allaboutbirds.org/).
We will meet at the Savage Gulf East Trailhead at 8:30 a.m. to begin the hike to Savage Falls. Please bring water, snacks, bug spray, and anything else that you may need for the duration of an approximate 3-hour program.
