Discover the cultural and ecological importance of river cane with Ranger Pacen while exploring the history and nature of one of the Southeast's most unappreciated native plants on a guided hike.
We will hike to the boardwalk over the swamp on the South Fork Forked Deer River from Saul's mound then directly back. Hike itself should be rather modest, mostly paved and level. But be prepared for mosquitos in the wetland habitat.
Bring water and bugspray.
