Description: Reel Fun
Location: Fiery Gizzard State Park
Celebrate National Fishing and Catfish Month! Spend a relaxing day by the water as we dive into the fun and fundamentals of fishing! This hands-on program is perfect for beginners and families who want to learn how to fish responsibly while exploring the ecology of local lakes and streams.
"Reel Fun" will cover:
- How to cast, bait, and reel in your catch
- Identifying native fish species and their habitats
- Safe and respectful fishing practices, including catch and release
- State fishing regulations
All fishing equipment and bait will be provided. Please bring sunscreen, water, a hat, and your curiosity! Participants under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. A limited number of rods are available, so early arrival is recommended.
Whether it’s your first time or you’re just looking for a quiet morning at the water’s edge, this program is a great opportunity to slow down, connect with nature, and maybe even reel in a new hobby!
Registration is required, as well as a fishing license.
We will meet at the main parking lot at Grundy Lakes by the bathrooms on 08/02 at 3:30PM.
If no one registers for this event by 11:59 PM on August 1st, it will be canceled.
