Description: Reading with a Ranger: "The Very Lonely Firefly"
Location: Indian Mountain State Park
Cozy in for the evening with a read-aloud by S.I.R. Natalie of "The Very Lonely Firefly" by Eric Carle, followed by a brief discussion on fireflies and what we've learned through the reading!
This program is recommended for children ages 8 to 12, but older siblings and parents, as well as all ages, are also welcome!
After the reading, we will discuss our thoughts about the story and consider what things stood out to us. We'll illustrate ways our fireflies are unique and why they are in decline.
The duration of the program will be approximately 45 minutes or less. All supplies will be provided by the park. During the story, we will be around the campfire and participants will sit on the ground. If desired, bring a blanket or extra chair with you for sitting. We will not have extra seating available.
To prepare for this program, please read the attached Essential Eligibility Criteria below.
This program is weather dependent, and participants who have signed up will be notified of cancellation at least 1-hour prior to event time. Our website has been having technical difficulties with registration on the same day of the program. If you have difficulties, please contact the park at the number listed.
