Join Ranger Christa Davidson and Ranger Regina Lowry on this popular overnight kayak and camping trip!
We will kayak from the State Park kayak shed at noon on Saturday and camp overnight at Hazlewood Girl Scout Camp. On Sunday we will kayak back again arriving back at the kayak shed around 12:00 p.m. Time in kayak one way is approximately 3 hours, including rest stops. Minimum age for the trip is 18.
Your gear and snack food will be carried to the camp by truck so you can enjoy the kayak trip. Once we arrive at the Camp, we will unpack the truck and set up our tents. We will cook dinner over a campfire and those who wish can enjoy a hike on a nearby trail or relax by the fire with new friends. The rest of the evening we will relax and practice campfire desert cooking and outdoor skills. There is a gravel swim beach near if you choose to swim or fish.
The State Park will provide ingredients for foil pocket campfire meals for each participant. Saturday morning the Rangers will prepare a hearty breakfast before kayaking back to the park around 10:00am. The registration fees will cover dinner, breakfast, bottled water and snacks. Please notify Ranger Davidson or Ranger Lowry if you have any allergies to any food items.
