Description: Once in a Blue Moon Hike Rocky Fork
Location: Rocky Fork State Park
Once in a Blue Moon Hike! Join us for a SPECIAL second May Full Moon Hike to observe the Full Moon and nocturnal critters. We will hike up to the White Oak Flats overlook to observe the Full Moon along the Rocky Fork Valley and the distant mountain peaks. This is a three-mile round trip moderate hike, please dress for the weather and trail conditions.
*Please bring a flashlight or headlamp and water and closed-toed shoes.
PARKING INSTRUCTIONS
Park Staff will direct participants to park along the paved road. Once all the participants check in, we will make our way to the trail for our hike.
We are limiting this hike to 15 participants.
SEVERE WEATHER PLAN
In the event of severe weather, park staff will make a determination if it is too dangerous to put on the program and participate will be refunded.
Directions: From Johnson City/ Erwin take I-26 South and get off at exit 43, follow the brown signs to Lamar Alexander Rocky Fork State Park. Turn right on TN 352 for approximately 6 miles until you arrive at Rocky Fork Road on your right. Take Rocky Fork Road for 0.5 of a mile until you arrive at the gravel parking pull off.
From Asheville/ Mars Hill NC take I-26 North and get off at Exit 50, the first Exit in Tennessee, take a left on Upper Higgins Road for 0.6 of a mile, turn right on Old Asheville Highway for 2.2 miles, turn Left on Rocky Fork Road for 0.5 of a mile until you arrive at the gravel pull off.
