This event is now history, but we have many more wonderful programs in store for you!
Hiking through the park at night can offer a unique view of otherwise familiar places. Join the ranger and delve into the dark. While we hike, we will discuss the different stages of twilight and moon phases, as well as discuss the animals that might be active during those time periods. We will be listening for other life forms that we will be sharing the dark with.
The trail we will be hiking for this will be roughly 0.75-mile long and have minimal elevation change (perhaps the equivalent of one flight of stairs, but more gradual). It will traverse through a wooded environment and end in the grassy powerline corridor. Please bring your own headlamp (with a red or green option (red is preferred since it is less disruptive to our cones and to the wildlife), sturdy shoes. There is no bathroom at this parking area so you may want to use the campground restrooms before attending this hike (if you turn onto the campground loop and stay straight, the restrooms will be on your left). Wear sturdy shoes and you may wish to bring a hand-held flashlight as a backup.
