Description: New Moon Star Gazing Hike - Mound Bottom

Location: Harpeth River State Park

Join Harpeth River State Park Staff on a guided night hike to one of the most unique ancient sites in Tennessee - Mound Bottom State Archaeological Site. Mound Bottom is a Mississippian-era mound center tucked into a horseshoe bend on the Harpeth River, just west of Nashville, TN. We will hike a 1.5 mile trail (total trip) following the only land access to site.

On this hike we will discuss Mississippian Period culture and lifeways. Once we reach the mound center we will use telescopes to look at some night sky objects and stars.

Bring your curiosity, hand warmers and red-light flashlight!

Cancelled in the event of bad weather. If cancelled, notice will be sent via the email used to register.
