Description: Homeschool Thursday: Butterfly Life Cycle

Location: Bledsoe Creek State Park

In this Homeschool Thursday program, we will be celebrating National Butterfly and Hummingbird Day by discussing the butterfly life cycle and the importance of pollinators for our ecosystem.

This program involves the use of scissors, glue, and markers. Parents are required to evaluate their child's ability and assist if necessary.

All ages are welcome to participate, but ideal ages are between K - 2nd grade.

State standards covered include:

• Collect and analyze observational data to show that young living things are like, but not exactly like, their parents. K.LS3.1
• Develop and use models to show how plants and animals depend on their surroundings and other living things to meet their needs 1.LS2.3
• Develop and use models to compare how animals depend on their surroundings and other living things to meet their needs in the places they live. 2.LS2.1
