This event is now history, but we have many more wonderful programs in store for you!
The Geminids Meteor Shower is usually active between November 19th to December 24th every year. It tends to peak around December 13th to the 14th. Named after the constellation Gemini, the Geminids are usually the strongest meteor shower of the year! This major shower provides good activity prior to midnight. The Geminids are often bright and intensely colored. The program is recommended for anyone ten or older, and the program will begin at the visitor's center.
We are planning the campfire so late because the best chance for seeing meteors will be after 10:00 pm. We will have the campfire from 8:00 pm until 10:30 pm. then those who want to stay and star gaze can hang out for as long as they wish and hopefully see a lot of shooting stars! Bring lawn chairs or something to lay on while gazing up at the sky. Please dress accordingly for the weather that night. For the campfire we will have hot dogs & s'more fixin's. In the event of bad weather or other unforeseeable cancelation participants will receive an email or phone call.
