Before transportation revolutionized grocery shopping, rural peoples had to prepare an abundance of seasonal vegetables and fruits to be used during the winter and to sell.
All autumn long, learn how to preserve different seasonal fruits and veggies with Ranger Dani. This month we will be pickle-ing and canning okra-a staple for many folks in the southeast!
Registration is required if you want to bring home your own pickled okra.
Please meet at the Interpretative Center located next to the Aviary. There is extra parking at the Star Walk Trail across from the Interpretative Center.
