Description: Make Your Own Declaration!
Location: Cordell Hull Birthplace State Park
What is a declaration anyway?
Declaration: a formal or specific statement or announcement.
This program is intended for children who are able to write up to age 12. Anyone is welcome to join of course!
The Declaration of Independence is the most important document in our nation's history, and today we celebrate that! July 4, 1776, the founding fathers signed this document to free citizens from the oppression of the British government. Without it, we would not have the basic rights and freedoms we enjoy today. We also recognized those who have fought and continue to serve our country and uphold the statements outlined in this declaration.
Now, you can make and celebrate your own!
For this program, we will meet in the park's museum lobby. All materials will be provided by the park free of charge. We will learn all about what a declaration is, our country's declaration, why it is important, and why it is important to know our outlined rights and freedoms as American citizens. Afterwards, you will be able to take your declaration home to declare your own statements!
To prepare for this program please see the Essential Eligibility Criteria attached below.
In the event of inclement weather this event will be cancelled.
