PAST PROGRAM

This event is now history, but we have many more wonderful programs in store for you!

Description: Lantern Hike

Location: Cumberland Mountain State Park

Join Ranger Corbin Maddox on a guided hike on the Byrd Lake trail for a lantern hike. We will also tour the CCC Museum.

This program is designed for adults and children who are eager to explore the trail at night.

A night hike in a state park lets you experience the woods in a completely different way, using your ears and senses to spot moment, glowing eyes, and the sounds of nocturnal animals like owls, and raccoons. Guided by moonlight and lanterns, hikers move quietly along the trails to observe wildlife activity that only happens after dark, making it both a peaceful and exciting outdoor adventure.

Guests can expect to go on a moderate hike on paved ADA trail with limited visibility. Lanterns will be provided for the hike. Guests will meet Ranger Corbin at the visitor center.

Guests should be prepared to dress for cold weather

In the event of inclement weather this program will be cancelled. Those registered will be notified by email.
