Join Division of Natural Areas staff and partnering organizations for a special dedication event at John Noel at Bon Aqua State Natural Area. This brief ceremony will recognize the site’s formal induction into the Old-Growth Forest Network, honoring its exceptional mature forest, biodiversity, and conservation significance. Following the dedication, participants will enjoy a guided, family-friendly interpretive hike through the state natural area.
The hike is approximately 1 mile on natural-surface trail with moderate terrain and mild elevation change. Along the way, participants will experience towering white oaks and tulip poplars, a rich spring wildflower understory, and learn about the site’s ecology, history, and protection as a Tennessee State Natural Area. Due to limited parking, this is a registration-only event. Exact meeting and parking details will be provided to registered participants.
