Description: Ice Age Hunting with Atlatls

Location: Natchez Trace State Park

Join Ranger Colton to Learn How to Hunt Mammoths like the Ice Age Hunters using the Atlatl!


The first peoples to enter what is now the United States entered during periods of massive glaciers and colder temps. They would have encountered Wooly Mammoths, Lions, Horses, Camels, Ground Sloths, Cheetahs, Saber-toothed cats, and much more! These humans would have used the atlatl as their primary hunting tool for all of these large mammals we call "megafauna". Come learn how to the atlatl works and learn how to hunt the mammoths!
