PAST PROGRAM

This event is now history, but we have many more wonderful programs in store for you!

Description: Homemade Hummingbird Feeder

Location: Cordell Hull Birthplace State Park

Sugar and water make for good hummingbird fodder!

This program is recommended for ages 12 8 and older. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Hummingbirds are an important pollinator species. They do so much work for the plants around us and for other species too. Including us! Commercial hummingbird foods contain ingredients that are not great for hummingbirds and can even cause great harm. Making homemade is the best way to provide sustenance to our hummingbirds!

This program will last about an hour and we will meet in the park office/activity room. All materials will provided by the park. We will be working with a portable stove and hot materials to create the hummingbird food, so children must be accompanied at all time and caution should be exercised for all. Afterwards you will take home a container made from recycled materials and knowledge on how to make more safe food for hummingbirds!

To prepare more for this program please see the Essential Eligibility Criteria attached below.

In the event of inclement weather this event will be cancelled.
