Ready for a two-part HIKING ADVENTURE? Join us on a short, fairly easy hike to a lovely waterfall and then an option to hike higher up some remote wilderness trails. Along the way, we'll experience the unique flora and fauna of this rich wild country.

We're calling this a "hybrid hike" because it includes both a beginner's hike and a more difficult hike - "two hikes for the price of one!" The first portion of our adventure is relatively easy. We'll follow a gentle uphill grade, with only one unbridged creek crossing, up to beautiful Sill Branch Falls. After this less than 2 mile round trip walk, you can choose to return home, or to continue on up to Upper Sill Branch Falls and on into Rich Mountain. Note that this second option is a VERY DIFFICULT hike. We'll travel semi-maintained trails that will include some very steep portions, numerous creek crossings, dense rhododendron thickets and frequent blowdowns. This second part of our adventure is NOT for the "faint of heart!" - participants should be experienced hikers! Wear long pants and sturdy hiking boots. Bring plenty of food and water and extra clothing layers - weather can change quickly here in the mountains!

We'll meet at Warriors' Path, at the big parking lot uphill from park headquarters (the former pool parking lot), departing PROMPTLY at 7:30 AM to carpool to the trailhead. It's about a one hour drive to the start of our hike.

Note that you must preregister (and pay registration fees) if you wish to participate.

IMPORTANT - This "hiking adventure" will be cancelled (and rescheduled if possible) in case of unsafe road conditions.
