This event is now history, but we have many more wonderful programs in store for you!
Join us on a guided hike up to the park high point on top of Birchfield Camp, 4,310 feet. The high point is the highest point in the state park system. We will ascend nearly 2,000 feet from the parking lot to the highpoint. Along our hike we will notice the change from cove mountain forest to northern hardwoods. We will discuss the geography and hydrology of Rocky Fork. This hike is considered strenuous and is suitable for experienced hikers. Feel free to bring a sack lunch and plenty of water. Well behaved dogs are allowed on this hike provided they are in shape to hike the mountain and are on a physical leash.
This Hike is around 9 miles round trip about 4,000 feet of elevation change.
