Description: Heritage Cast Iron Cooking Class at the Sadie Ford Farm [11 AM]

Location: Cedars of Lebanon State Park

Outdoor Cast Iron Cooking Class

Step back into a timeless cooking tradition and discover the art of cooking with cast iron over an open fire. Join us at Sadie Ford Heritage Farm for a hands-on outdoor cooking experience where participants will learn how to prepare delicious meals using classic cast iron cookware.

This class will explore several outdoor cooking methods including campfire cooking, charcoal briquettes, and propane burners. Whether you are brand new to cast iron or looking to sharpen your skills, you will learn practical tips for temperature control, proper seasoning and care, and how to create hearty meals the old-fashioned way.

The class will be led by members of the Wilson County Cast Iron Community, a group dedicated to sharing knowledge, techniques, and the cultural traditions surrounding cast iron cooking. Participants will also learn how simple ingredients can come together to create classic campfire dishes like a hearty Dutch oven stew.

Come experience the flavors, skills, and heritage of outdoor cooking in a beautiful historic setting. This program is perfect for beginners, outdoor enthusiasts, and anyone who loves good food cooked the traditional way.
