Description: Geology of Tennessee Hike

Location: Henry Horton State Park

Join Ranger Hannah for a journey through geologic time! Explore the Hickory Ridge trail and learn about all the amazing geological wonders it reveals. learn about sinkhole formation, view a rare habitat, and connect with the geology that makes Tennessee so beautiful.

The hike will begin at 11AM along the Hickory Ridge Inner Loop Trail. The trail is about 1.4 miles long and the program is expected to take an hour and half to complete. The hike will leave from the camp store.

This trail is relatively easy, but contains a rocky terrain with many places with large steps. or down. Along the trail, there will be an optional short excursion into a sinkhole base. This portion of the hike will require simple climbing and may be difficult for people struggling with mobility issues. Please see the attached Essential Eligibility Information. Please dress in shoes good for walking and warm clothes, as this trail is mostly shaded. Please bring water.
