Using minimal equipment and resources, participants will survive a 3 day/ 2 night camping trip on an island in Tims Ford Lake. Participants will learn a variety of topics including survival basics, friction fire, land navigation, shelter building, knots, and more. Learn to live off the land by learning wild edible plants, trapping, fishing, skinning/butchering, and outdoor cooking. This program is designed for all skill levels, and can help those new to outdoorsmanship gain confidence through experience.
Participants must be at least 14 years old, and participants 14-17 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
Required Gear List:
- Fixed Blade Knife
- Ferrocerium Rod
- Screw Top Water Bottle
- Hatchet/ Axe
- 8x10 Tarp
- 50 ft Paracord
- Flashlight or Headlamp
- Small metal pot (not aluminum)
- Sleeping bag/pad
- Fishing line/ assorted small hooks
- Set of extra clothes in waterproof container
Optional Additional Gear:
- Hand Saw
- Insect Repellant
- Small first aid kit including any necessary medications
Forged at the Ford will happen rain or shine. We will take inventory upon arrival to ensure participants have the necessary gear as well as to keep the integrity of the program.
Cancellations: Cancellations made prior to February 23rd may be issued a full refund. Cancellations made between February 23rd and 28th and may receive a 50% refund. Cancellations made after February 28th may not receive a refund.
Registration for Forged at the Ford ends on March 6th. In the event that registration is full before you have a chance to register, please call the park office at 931-958-3536 to be added to a waiting list.
