Description: Forest to Field Guide: Plant Stamping and Identification Hike
Location: Harrison Bay State Park
Join us for Forest to Field Guide: Plant Foraging, Stamping, and Identification of Plants Found in Harrison Bay, an immersive outdoor program that combines natural history, art, and exploration.
Participants will venture into the park around the Interpretative Center to discover and identify a variety of native and naturalized plant species while learning the basics of plant identification, ethical foraging practices, and the important roles plants play in local ecosystems.
Along the way, we'll discuss how Indigenous peoples, early settlers, and modern communities have used plants for food, medicine, tools, and other everyday needs.
After our exploration, participants will create their own botanical prints using plant stamping techniques, producing a unique nature-inspired keepsake while observing the intricate details that help naturalists identify species in the field.
