Description: Fly Fishing on the Frontier

Location: David Crockett Birthplace State Park

Fly fishing has a long and rich tradition in America, dating back to the late 17th century, and well into the 18th century, when settlers first arrived in the colonies. Among its earliest American enthusiasts were George Washington and Benjamin Franklin, both of whom enjoyed fishing not only as a pastime, but as a peaceful way to connect with nature.

Join Ranger Chinouth on the Nolichucky River as we carry on this enduring tradition. This class is for beginners, but more experienced anglers are welcome to join! The park will provide all the equipment you will need, but you will want to bring some clothes that can get wet, including water shoes or wading boots; you will need grip as we are wading in low water. If you have waders already, bring them in case of colder weather.

**Must have a valid Tennessee fishing license for this program** Trout stamp is not necessary as we are targeting other species.

This program is for ages 13 and older.
