This event is now history, but we have many more wonderful programs in store for you!
Long before the invention of the friction match, flint & steel was a common practice to create fire on a daily basis. The Crocketts would have used flint & steel just like every pioneer and Native American in the 18th century. The steel striker was a popular trade item for trappers and explorers trading to tribes in exchange for other items.
During this program, you will learn more about the history of flint & steel from Ranger Chinouth, and we will dedicate about an hour to allow those participating to try to create fire on their own!
