Description: First Day Hike 2026
Location: Rock Island State Park
Join a Rock Island Park Ranger for our annual First Day Hike! This trip is recommended for families and people of all ages. The hike is a moderate 1.6-mile trail and visitors should expect to move along some steps and mild elevation gains during our adventure. Along the way, you will be able to see Twin Falls, the Caney Fork River, the Blue Hole, and if we are lucky, some local wildlife as well! We will meet at the end of Powerhouse Road and depart at the Downstream Trailhead. Be sure to bring your water, cameras, sturdy footwear, and an extra jacket in case it gets chilly!
This hike is free, but we are accepting donations to support the park. Please arrive 10 minutes early, if possible. There are no restroom facilities in this area of the park, so it is recommended that you take care of those needs before attending the hike. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
In the event of inclement weather, the event will be cancelled, and all attendees will be notified by text message or email, so be sure to provide a good contact when signing up.
