Discover the World of Birds: From Field to Forest

Join us at the scenic Head of Sequatchie for an immersive birding adventure! On this guided hike along the Cumberland Trail, we’ll explore a variety of bird habitats—each with its own unique sights, sounds, and species.

You’ll learn how different environments attract different birds, uncover what makes each habitat special, and sharpen your bird-spotting skills along the way. Expect to see—and hear—a diverse range of feathered friends in their natural homes.

What to Expect:

  • A relaxed, informative hike (~1.5 miles) through mixed terrain
  • Opportunities to spot local birds in forests, fields, caves, and more.
  • Insightful discussions on bird behavior and habitat preference

What to Bring:

  • Sturdy shoes and weather-appropriate clothing
  • Water and snacks
  • Optional: binoculars, notepad, camera

Perfect for nature lovers, beginner birders, and curious minds of all ages.

Come connect with nature, meet fellow enthusiasts, and see the Cumberland Trail from a bird’s-eye view! We will meet at the Head of Sequatchie visitors center at 8:00 AM Central.
