PAST PROGRAM

This event is now history, but we have many more wonderful programs in store for you!

Description: Early Morning Waterfall Hike

Location: Cummins Falls State Park

Ready for an adventure? Lace up your hiking shoes and get ready to explore one of the most scenic areas in the region! We’ll begin our journey at the Visitor Center, where we’ll set out on a 2.5-mile round-trip hike through stunning natural landscapes.

Along the way, we’ll visit the breathtaking Waterfall Overlook, descend into the gorge, and follow the Blackburn Fork State Scenic River all the way to the base of the waterfall. Be prepared to get your feet wet—this is a hands-on experience with river crossings, slippery rocks, and knee-deep water. Bring footwear you don’t mind getting wet (NO FLIP FLOPS), and pack a dry pair for the ride home. Old tennis shoes, running shoes, or sneakers work great!

This hike offers a bit of everything: Moderate elevation changes, rugged terrain, and tremendous natural beauty. Make sure to bring water and a light snack to keep your energy up along the way.

Please note:

  • A permit is not required for this hike.

Important Weather Disclaimer:

This hike to the base of the waterfall is weather dependent. If the gorge is flooded or conditions are unsafe, the route will be modified to a guided tour to the overlook only. In the event of cancellation due to severe weather, park staff will contact you.

Cancellation Policy:

This program requires at least one participant to be signed up by the day before in order to be held. If the program is canceled, you will be notified via phone call.

We look forward to hiking with you on this adventurous and unforgettable journey!
