This event is now history, but we have many more wonderful programs in store for you!
Twin Falls is breathtaking and even the birds bask in the view. This is an excellent change of scenery compared to your typical birdwatching trip, and as an added bonus the falls are relatively free of people this early in the morning. This will be a short hike with some steep hills. Some areas may be slippery and there will be an overall change in elevation of roughly 75-100' (7-10 flights of stairs), depending on which paths we take.
Come see where the vultures rest, where the Great Blue Herons retreat, and where the Double Crested Cormorants seek out their daily food. Maybe an otter will visit (this sometimes happens here early in the mornings)! You can also sometimes see: Downy, Hairy, Pileated, or Red-bellied Woodpeckers; Carolina Wrens; American Robins; Blue Grosbeaks; Indigo Buntings; Northern Cardinals; Tufted Titmice; Carolina Chickadees; American Goldfinch, and Cliff Swallows.
Bring binoculars if you have them. If you don't, Ranger Garrison has a few extra pairs that can be shared. If you are just beginning to bird, no worries! We can include a short binocular tutorial and a small guide on the most commonly encountered birds. Hope to see you there!
