PAST PROGRAM

This event is now history, but we have many more wonderful programs in store for you!

Description: DIY Indoor Gardening

Location: Cumberland Mountain State Park

Join us for a hands-on program on how to grow certain vegetables indoors year-round by using the Kratky Method of hydroponics.

This program is designed for adults and children aged 10 and above who want to begin growing simple vegetables inside their home.

Hydroponic gardening is the technique of growing plants using a water-based nutrition solution rather than soil. By utilizing the Kratky Method we avoid the need for pumps and filtration systems. This method is also ideal when you have a limited amount of space as it does not require much room.

Participants can expect a brief informational talk on the history of hydroponics and the 2 main methods used. We will then build a simple hydroponic system using mason jars to grow green leaf lettuce. Participants will be able to take their mason jars home to begin growing their produce. All materials are provided for this program.

The program will be at the CCC Museum Patio, located next to the restaurant, at 10:00am CST. Space is limited. Pre-registration is required. Registration deadline is March 6, 2026.
