Description: Cumberland Critters

Location: Cumberland Trail State Park

Join Seasonal Interpretive Ranger Cameron as we explore Cumberland trail state park in search of critters along the trail. This is an excellent program for kids ages 7+ but all ages are welcome. We will be meeting at the Head of Sequatchie Visitor Center at 10AM Central. We will hike 1 mile around the Falcon Warrior Trail in the park. We will discuss the various types of habitats and different animals that may inhabit them along the Cumberland Trail. Bring snacks, water, and appropriate shoes for hiking. ESSENTIAL ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA


Very Steep Slope Hike


Program participants should be able to do the following, independently or with the assistance of a companion or adaptive equipment:


Understand and follow instructions to avoid and/or manage risks

Tolerate the outdoor elements for at least 1.5 hours

Perform self-care including maintaining nutrition and hydration, and managing existing medical conditions

Be able to identify and recognize environmental risks, including but not limited to, falling objects/rocks, loose rock and unstable surfaces, very steep and uneven terrain, cliff edges, crevasses, moving water (fast or slow) such as rivers or creeks, and potentially hazardous animals and insects

Move over uneven, rocky, narrow terrain 1.5 miles, including a rock staircase.

Support body weight while moving up and down a very steep 65% incline and decline over large rocks, tree roots, and potentially slippery soil for >1.5 miles
