This event is now history, but we have many more wonderful programs in store for you!
It’s time to use up that collection of plastic grocery bags you’ve been saving! This program will introduce you to “plarn,” aka plastic yarn made of grocery bags. Turning grocery bags into yarn gives them a new purpose and allows you to create durable and reusable products out of what would have been plastic waste!
This program is recommended for anyone ages 10+ interested in cutting down their plastic usage and becoming more environmentally conscious.
During the program we will discuss the impact of single use plastic on the environment, and how plarn can help. We will then dive into creating and working with plarn. All skill levels are welcome, we will cover the basics of crochet and teach you how to make your own reusable grocery bags out of single use bags.
Materials will be provided, but feel welcome to bring some plastic grocery bags along with you if you would like to use your own. The program will be held inside the visitor’s center under the train tracks.
In the event that the program is cancelled you will receive a text on the phone number you provide during registration, and we will attempt to reschedule for the near future.
