Description: Creek Crawl
Location: Cordell Hull Birthplace State Park
Sometimes a creek can just look like...a creek. But they are teeming with an abundance of life if it is a healthy one!
This program is recommended for children aged 8-12 and up. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Water ways are very important for the overall health of ecosystems. Without water, life on earth would not exist. Even if we have a water way nearby, keeping it healthy is also important too. There are animals that if found in a creek, can indicate how healthy that water is.
For this program we will meet at the Bunkum Cave Loop Trailhead. Then, we will hike down to our creek to begin our "crawl". Then, we will look for creatures within the water, and using our critter card, we will score how healthy our creek is! Afterwards we will discuss the importance of clean water ways and loop back to the trailhead to end the program.
For this program we are not actually crawling, but we will be leaning down for long periods of time. It is advised you bring water, snacks, and wear shoes that can be hiked in AND get wet.
For more information and to prepare for the program please see the Essential Eligibility Criteria attached below.
In the event of inclement weather this event will be cancelled.
