Future explorers ages 8 and up are invited to meet at Fort Watauga at Sycamore Shoals for a fascinating 45-minute interactive adventure with Kaden Payne. You will step into the shoes of early 1770s land surveyors to discover the clever math, rugged tactics, and specialized tools needed to carve out settlements in the untamed back country. After exploring historic compasses and measuring chains, you will try your hand at real surveying techniques to see if you can accurately chart and claim the wilderness!
