Description: Cherokee Cryptids & Cobbler
Location: Red Clay State Historic Park
You’ve seen Bigfoot, you’ve wondered about Mothman, you’ve heard tales of El Chupacabra; but what monsters, creatures, and warnings did the Cherokee observe in the dark woods of Appalachia? Ranger Taylor and Ranger Cord will be telling stories at the mini amphitheater to tell everyone about Cherokee Cryptids, and to show a bit into how the Cherokee people portrayed and communicated their cultural values through storytelling.
The stories can be a bit scary, so parents, please use your discretion when deciding whether or not to bring your children.
Halfway through the program, a delicious cobbler will be served for your enjoyment. If you have specific dietary needs, please reach out to us, and we can make arrangements for you to enjoy a sweet treat, too!
The program will be taking place at the mini amphitheater. Benches are available for seating. If you would like to sit closer to the fire, we recommend bringing a blanket to lay out on the ground. You will also need flashlights to navigate to the mini amphitheater (near the Blue Hole Spring) for the program. Park rangers will be available to assist visitors in getting to the program location.
For more specific details about the program experience, please see the Event PDF.
