This event is now history, but we have many more wonderful programs in store for you!
Join SIR Kandace to explore how the red poppy became a symbol of remembrance after World War I and why it continues to hold meaning today. We will talk about the history, poetry, and cultural significance that created this tradition. By participating, you will take part in an act of remembrance that honors service and sacrifice.
This program is recommended for anyone interested in learning some of the history and traditions of Memorial Day.
After we talk about the history, we will each create a poppy out of felt and other materials. You can either take your poppy with you or leave it on our remembrance board at the park. The program will last approximately 1 hour and all materials are provided.
In the event of inclement weather, this program will be canceled.
