Description: Caney Fork Canoe Float
Location: Scott's Gulf Wilderness State Park
Join Scott's Gulf Wilderness staff on a guided canoe float down the beautiful Caney Fork River. Along the float, we will point our wildlife, talk about the creatures above and below and the importance of water systems through our beautiful state.
All equipment (canoe, paddle, and PFD) will be provided, but please feel free to bring your own personal floatation device if you wish. Please bring bug spray, sunscreen, plenty of water, light lunch, and snacks with you. Please wear water shoes as you will have to walk on rocky terrain. Also, don't forget to wear clothes you don't mind getting wet! There will be an opportunity to swim.
Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Children under 12 must have an adult in the canoe with them.
Participants must be able to carry up to 50lbs approximately 500 feet as you will be assisting park staff getting the vessel from the unload area to the water and return to the unload area after the trip. Participants also must be able to exit canoe, travel over rocky terrain with a canoe, and reenter the canoe in case of low water.
We will meet at the Mitchell Ford Canoe Access. The best address for this location is 5134 Co Hwy 2190, Sparta, TN 38583.
In the event of extremely low water levels or inclement weather, the event will be cancelled, and all attendees will be refunded and notified by text message or email, so be sure to provide a good contact when signing up. Refunds will only be offered if the event is cancelled by the park.
