Description: Campfire Friday: Campfire Cobbler
Location: Harpeth River State Park
Join us for a delicious journey back in time with our Dutch Oven Campfire Cobbler Program, where history, tradition, and sweet treats come together around the fire. This hands-on experience invites participants of all ages to learn the art of making a classic fruit cobbler in a traditional Dutch oven over the hot coals of a campfire.
We'll begin by exploring the origins of the cobbler, a beloved dessert with deep roots in colonial America. After this short historical introduction, participants will gather around the campfire to help prepare a cobbler using a fruit filling and simple ingredients. We'll teach you how to layer, bake, and monitor your dessert in a cast-iron Dutch oven, just as early Americans might have done over glowing coals.
Not only is this a fun - and tasty - bite of history it is also a great skill that you can use at your next camping trip you can use to impress everyone with your awesome campfire cooking skills!
