We're sorry. This event is no longer available, but we have many more wonderful programs in store for you!
The Duck River is home to an incredibly diverse array of aquatic life, many of which are rare and several endangered. Additionally, the Duck flows through sections of glade and barrens ecosystem complexes, home to several species of globally rare plants.
The 5.8 mile stretch of river from Sowell Mill Pike (Leftwich) to Howard Bridge Road offers an easy paddle of class 1 water with a few swift sections and shoals. It passes by Cheeks Bend, a section of the Duck River Complex State Natural Area.
Along the way we will discuss ecology of the area and enjoy paddling one of Tennessee’s treasures! Depending on water levels, this float may include some walking/dragging through shoals, so be prepared to get wet. Attendees are required to wear PFDs. Bring sunscreen, plenty of water and snacks, and be prepared for the weather.
