Join us to celebrate Endangered Species Day with a hike at Bone Cave State Natural Area. We will hike to the entrance of Big Bone Cave. Along the way we will discuss the natural and historical importance of this Natural Area. The 0.5 mile hike is moderately strenuous and does include a steep hill that must be moved along both downhill and uphill. This hike is recommended for anyone who enjoys hiking and learning more about caves. Please wear sturdy shoes and dress appropriately for the weather. Be sure to bring plenty of water and snacks if you would like.
Everyone will meet at the Rock Island State Park Visitor Center and then follow Park Staff to Bone Cave State Natural Area via car caravan. Reservation is required and participation is limited to 15 people. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
In the event of inclement weather, the event may be cancelled, and all attendees will be notified by text message or email, so be sure to provide a good contact when signing up. Refunds will only be offered if the event is cancelled by the park.
