The land use history at Cedars of Lebanon State Forest is varied and some areas require more time and energy to recover to a natural condition. Our goal will be one the areas that is requiring that extra effort. On the way, we will see beautiful cedar glade plants that are restricted to that habitat. Other plants that are benefiting from the multiple management methods we’ve applied will be more easily found at this time of year. Later, they will be obscured by the native grasses that have rebounded in the more intensively managed unit that is our destination. Participants will need a suitable bike for gravel travel. The round trip distance will be about 3 miles and rain I salmost always expected around this date. It could also be very hot. Check the weather forecast and wear appropriate clothing. Bring adequate food and water for a 4 hour outing.
