We're sorry. This event is no longer available, but we have many more wonderful programs in store for you!
Ages 18+. Discover the art of basket weaving while giving new life to one of the park's most persistent invasive plants! Join Seasonal Ranger Molly to learn how kudzu removed from Norris Dam State Park can be transformed into a beautiful, handmade miniature basket. Participants will build the framework of their basket, learn how to create a traditional God's Eye to secure the handle and ribs, and weave the basket using prepared kudzu vines. This hands-on workshop lasts approximately 2 hours, so please bring water and any snacks you may want during the program. If you don't finish your basket during class, you'll receive materials to complete it at home. This program is $20 per participant and is for ages 18+ due to the detailed nature of the project. We will meet at the Threshing Barn as long as the weather permits.
